The previous kitchen was heavily enclosed and disconnected from the rest of the house. The goal was to eliminate unnecessary boundaries between rooms and encourage movement and interaction. Following the installation of new oak floors, the kitchen was redesigned to accommodate an open floor plan. The client requested a very clean look with minimal color reflected in the gray silestone countertops, stainless appliances, and high gloss white cabinetry. We added color in a custom white oak bar that waterfalls the wall and counter. The open design allows interaction with the adjacent dining room and also allows direct view into the children’s playroom on the lower level.
